'SANE' NOISE MAKER 'TOUCHY'.

Explosion at Demonstration Startles K. C. K. Commissioners.

While representatives of a concern manufacturing a new "sane Fourth of July" noise-maker were demonstrating the machine at the city commissioners' meeting in Kansas City, Kas., yesterday morning, it was accidentally discharged. Mayor Green slipped off his chair, and Water and Light Commissioner Chapman "ducked." No one was injured.

The commissioners instructed the city chemist to examine the machine and ascertain whether the fluid used is dangerous, if handled by children. It depends on the chemist's report whether the commissioners will grant the manufacturer permission to sell the device in the city this summer.
