POPCORN PEDDLER SHOOTS AT BOY.

Police Learn Street Merchants Are Licensed to Carry Revolvers.

The fact that even Greek popcorn peddlers take licenses to carry revolvers was made known to the police at No. 4 station last night wen Constantine Todoroff, 1512 Holmes street, was arrested for shooting at a messenger boy who snatched a bag of peanuts.

"Sure I carry a gun," the Greek declared. "A few weeks ago another boy also stole a sack of peanuts. This one comes and pretends to buy then he leg it off on his bicycle. I holler 'halt or I shoot' and he don't stop, see? So I make my word good. That's right, isn't it? This is a free country."

The shooting occurred at Fourteenth and Oak streets at a time when many persons were passing by on the way to the theaters. A woman and child not far away were missed by a narrow margin. The police took away Todoroff's revolver and released him on a $26 bond for disturbing the peace.
